Meet Beoble. He is the adorable dog behind Beoble’s Buddies, an animal rescue organization. This wonderful organization not only rescues abandoned and forgotten animals, they also provide medical treatment, individualized one-on-one attention, socialization and training. The volunteers at Beoble’s Buddies work very hard getting the animals they rescue ready for what they hope is their forever home. Once the animal is healthy and ready for adoption, Beoples Buddies utilizes the ASPCA’s Meet Your Match program. This program assists them in making a good, compatible match between human and buddy, laying the foundation for the human/animal bond to develop and increasing the chance for a successful forever home. And, every time a buddy is adopted Beoples Buddies plants a tree to honor that buddy. How cool is that! For the next four months Rowve will be working with Beoble’s Buddies to help promote awareness for the need homes for all these wonderful animals. We will also donate 5% of our on-line profit to assist this organization in their work. If you would like to know more about Beoble’s Buddies, or you would like to help them, you can visit them at www.beoble’sbuddies.com.

I would like to hear form you, what are the most important things you do like about your bag and what are the things you don't like, or wish were different!
]]>"I bought the Go Anywhere and the Sling bag plus different size Carry All bags. They have been great for the gym, especially putting my dirty clothes and sneakers in the Carry Alls but I have really loved these bags for diaper bags and travel. They hold so much and I don't have to worry if something spills plus they are way cuter than most diaper bags. And they can take a beating during international travel with two kids under the age of 5!"

Pictures one normally sees of the average yogi is of a white, female between the age of 18 and 45 and in great physical shape. However, that stereotype of a yogi is changing. Yoga is great for all age groups, all sizes of individuals and for individuals with various physical and emotional challenges.
Yoga has been shown to help teens with body image issues as well as with anger issues. It is often a safe outlet for the adolescent need to push their limits(www.theartofyogaproject). According to JoAnna Ross, founder ofYoga By the Dozen , yoga is especially effective for autistic children. Yoga helps “…develop their cognitive and motor skills; and foster self-confidence and respect.”. Yoga works with autistic children when other sports and activities don’t because of the repetition and calm atmosphere.
Because of it’s low-impact form of exercise yoga is excellent for seniors. It not only helps to build lean muscle mass and balance, both needed in reducing the risk of age-related falls and accidents, but it also fights other health conditions related to age such as high blood pressure, arthritis and incontinence. An added benefit of yoga for seniors is that it provides a sense of community, a way to socialize and connect with others.
And let’s not forget our furry friends. There really is a yoga classefor dogs, dubbed Doga. Amy Stevens, creator of Yoga4Dogs DVD, feels that doga imparts many of the same benefits for dogs as yoga does for humans, improving flexibility and core strength.. Not to mention,(because it is done with the dog owner) fostering bonding.
Don’t think you have time for Yoga? Oh yes you do. Yoga can be done anywhere, at work, in the park or waiting for the copy machine at work. Practicing one posture can help to calm your mind, ease an aching back or stiff neck and energize you.
And, Rowve has just the bag to help you carry all your yoga clothes, towels, mats and other accessories. Regardless of where or when or what type of yoga you do. At Rowve.com you will be able to find a bag to fit your Yoga needs.
]]>1. Ideally choose a gym bag made of anti-microbial fabric instead of a traditional duffle bag as this helps fight the bad odors that are present in may locker rooms.
2. A gym bag should have multile pockets for all your personal items and exercise gear.
3. A waterproof pocket for your water bottle
4. A pocket for headphones and portable music gear.
This sounds like they are describing a Rowve Bag. Our Go Anywhere bag is large enough for all your gym needs. It’s lined with a laminate fabric which is easy to clean and disinfect so you don’t get the bad odors from sweaty gym gear. It has a several pockets, a laminated pocket on the side large enough for a water bottle, and a back pocket perfect for an ipod or other MP3 players, and headphones. The front clips work great for holding a rolled wet towel, so anything inside the bag doesn’t get wet. And for your sweaty clothes, shoes, swimsuits, cosmetics, body wash, shampoo, etc., Rowve carried three different size Carry All bags which fit great inside the Go Anywhere bag. So it’s obvious, if you’re going to the gym, for any reason, yoga, swimming, workouts, you need a Rowve bag.

Is Tai chi the "new" yoga? Am article in the Huffington Post, (01-08-14), gave five reasons why Tai chi could become more popular than yoga. The article states the benefits one receives from Tai ci, however, it appears to me that the benefits mirrors the benefits one receives when they practice yoga. I have taken a few classes in both and although movements are different the rewarding benefits are very similar. Here are the benefits of Tai chi as stated in the article. I suggest you try both and then decide which is right for you. Regardless, whether it's Tai chi or yoga, the Right bag for you is a Rowve Bag!
Rowve bags are the perfect bag for active, on-the-go people. In order to maintain an active lifestyle you have to eat healthy. Although we all try, because we are active, eating healthy, especially in the morning, can be difficult. Skipping breakfast sets you up for feeling sluggish and may cause you to overeat during the day. To help with this I have listed a few foods that help you start your day off right, are packed with fat-fighting nutrients such as fiber, omega-3s, calcium and vitamins. When you get bored with your breakfast, or don't think you have time, try one of these. You can find out more at: www.healthylivingmsn.com.
Eat healthy and Play Hard! And don't forget your Rowve Bag!

In the previous post I discussed the immediate and long term consequences of not getting enough sleep. I also mentioned a few things you might try if you are having difficulty sleeping. Here, (from the Huffington Post) is a list of things you may not have realized are things you DON’T WANT TO DO, if you are having trouble getting to or staying asleep.
We all know that when you don’t get enough sleep you tend to be cranky, irritable and out of sorts. It’s hard to be the sweet, loveable you everyone knows. Losing just one night of sleep can also result in feeling hungrier and puts you at greater risk for accidents. What I didn’t know is that over time the risks become greater, increased risk of stroke, diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
So what do you do when you can’t sleep? Well, provided pain is not the reason, here are a few tips,(taken from the Huffington Post) to helping you have a better, more restful night’s sleep.
Next time I will talk about the What Not To Do when you Can't Sleep.

January is the start of the new year and when you hear “new year” what is the first thing that comes to your mind? New Year Resolutions! Things we”ll do to improve our lives; exercise, eating healthy, travel, begina new activity, or perhaps just add a daily affirmation to your routine. This is a new year for Rowve and we too have decided to make some New Year Resolutions.
Over the past year Rowve has vigorously promoted a healthy dynamic lifestyle. Our bags are the ultimate bag for the active person. Our bags can go with you from the office to the gym, from shopping to the beach and everywhere in between. You can use the same bag for swimming, dancing, yoga, diapers, and travel. And, using our bag in place of plastic bags has a huge impact on the environment. Now we want to go a step further. We would like to share with you information we feel will enhance your goals. We will continue to have the “bag of the week”; monthly “give aways”; and, occasional affirmations. We will also continue to support a special charity; however, we want to include the latest and greatest information regarding health, diet, exercise and travel. So stay connected and get ready for a New Year with Rowve.
]]>Please DON’T USE ROWVE BAGS IN THIS MANNER! Not so practical. However, idea #46 from 63 Ways to use WalMart Bag recommends Storing “…your shoes in plastic bags when you have them inside your suitcase to keep from making the rest of your clothing stink like your smelly feet.” Now for this one I would highly recommend using a Rowve Bag.

From 36 Amazing Uses for the Lowly Plastic Grocery Bag by Len Penzo, one use of the plastic grocery bag is:
. “Plastic bags are also great for holding dirty diapers”.
Rowve’s Medium or Large Carry All Bag is perfect for holding dirty diapers. It’s easy to clean, just use soap and water, or you can use a yoga mat spray, and the bag is clean and disinfected so you can use it again, and again, and again. The emphasis being on the Again and Again. You don’t throw it away and use another plastic bag the next time you need a container for dirty diapers.
]]>Mary Lynn knew that health education alone was not the answer. She realized that the young women she worked with lacked a “…fundamental awareness of, and connection to, their own physical and emotional needs.”. So she started the Art of Yoga Project. The Project provides early intervention treatment and rehabilitation services to at- risk, incarcerated and exploited teenage girls in the juvenile justice system in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently the organization serves approximately 500 young women annually.
The cornerstone of the project is the Yoga & Creative Arts Curriculum. This is a year –round course that combines health education, character development, physical discipline,( yoga), mental discipline (meditation), and creative arts therapy. This curriculum assists the youth in coming to understand the issues going on for them which results in them making poor choices, The work they do in these classes help them learn to “… manage their anger and impulses; become accountable for their actions and develop a productive outlet for their emotions.”. Yoga gives the”… women safe ways to push limits and test boundaries and it helps balance the intense hormones and powerful emotions of adolescence…”. The creative arts side provides an avenue for the girls to channel their emotions. “Artistic expression gives young women a voice. They can write, paint or draw about feelings and convictions instead of acting them out with high-risk behaviors.”. The Art of Yoga Project is a fantastic program, guiding the young women participating in the program in claiming a new sense of themselves.
]]>In the coming weeks we will share more with you about this great project. You can also learn more about it by visiting their website at www.theartofyogaproject, or visiting their Facebook page. Help us spread the word about this great organization and supporting the work they do.
]]>This bag is not just a great yoga bag, which, by the way it is, but it’s also super for many things. I use it when I go swimming. I roll my towel, like a yoga mat, clip on and I have plenty of room for my swimming suit, change of clothes, swimming shoes, my medium carry all bag full of shampoo, body wash and a scrubby, and more. I also use it when traveling. I’m that person you see lugging a pillow around in the airports, and I’m probably the person who forgot the pillow you see sitting in the chair next to you at the airport. I need my own pillow when I travel. Well, with the Go Anywhere bag, I just clip it on in front and I’m ready to go. And the inside of the bag is large enough for me to bring a computer, a change of clothes, make-up bag, and a book. And the pocket on the back is great for my ereader or ipad. All the things I would need if my luggage got lost, which of course we all know never happens. Some people use it as a briefcase, carrying their computer and work papers or books for school. So wherever you go, whatever you do, your Go Anywhere bag should be going with you.
There are many reasons the Rowve sling bag is the perfect bag for you. It’s,comfortable, affordable, attractive, durable, and, like all Rowve bags, it’s lined in laminate making it easy to clean and keep fresh, which then makes it versatile.
The sling bag is extremely comfortable, wear it across your body or over your shoulder. And because of the design of the bag it remains comfortable even as you fill it up. So take it shopping, great for many items from groceries to the odds and ends you pick up running errands, and you don’t need the store’s plastic bag. Throw in a towel, sunscreen, water bottle, bathing suit and you’re ready for a day at the beach. It’s also great for a day at the gym, dance studio or going to yoga. And, it makes a super diaper bag. Because of the laminate lining you can throw in your dirty smelly gym or yoga clothes or dirty diapers and soiled kids clothes and you won’t ruin the bag. All you have to do is wash with a damp soapy cloth or use our yoga mat and bag spray. If the outside of the bag gets dirty, throw it in the washer and hang dry. It’s that simple.
We made the Sling bag deep so you can hold many things. It has two large pockets, ( 6”x 8”) on the inside and outside of the bag. There is also a zippered pocket on the outside which is great for keys, credit cards, money, or anything you need to get to easily. And, it comes in six great colors.
As all of you know the Carry All bag was originally created as an alternative to the use of plastic bags for my daughter who teaches and practices hot yoga. After a hot yoga class you have wet, smelly, soiled clothes and if you don’t put them into a plastic bag, you run the risk of ruining your gym bag and whatever else is in your gym bag. This is what was happening with my daughter. She did not opt to use plastic bags and she would throw her used clothes into a gym bag. After a while the bag and other things began to smell. She also ruined a leather wallet that she forgot was in the gym bag when she tossed her wet yoga clothes inside.
To our surprise we found, through you, our friends and customers, there are so many other uses for the bag.
The small carry all is perfect for travel size hygiene products. It will easily carry a travel size shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, and more. I used the small carry all for a purse when I attended a wedding. I could put my phone, credit cards, money, car keys, paper, pens and a small camera inside the bag. Because of the side strap I could carry it around my wrist, allowing me to take pictures without worrying about where my purse was. Dinner was buffet style and again it was great to be able to take my purse with me and not have to be concerned about it slipping from my shoulder as I juggled plates and glasses.
Remember Talulah from a couple of posts ago? Talulah has the medium Carry All bag which she uses for her dance class. As her mom stated, it holds all of her dance necessities and more. I use the medium Carry All for swimming. Because the laminate is water resistant I can put my wet swimming suit and pool shoes inside the bag, toss it into my Go Anywhere bag, and my other clothes stay dry. And moms, it’s great as a diaper bag. It’s the perfect size for diapers, a change of clothes, powder, ointment, whatever you need. And when you do have a messy diaper, no more plastic bags, just put it in the bag and you are good to go.
The large Carry All is perfect for all you hot yogis. After a class you can put your yoga clothes and towel into the bag, and again, it keeps your other clothes clean. I used the large Carry All bag when I went on a week- long cruise. It was the perfect bag for our used undies, socks and shirts, things I did not want to mix with the clean clothes and for which I would have normally used a plastic bag.
There are so many other uses for the Rowve Carry All bag. What would you use it for? Contact us at veronica@rowve.com.
]]>I have read many stories of the collapse of the building in Bangladesh and I’ve wanted to comment on it but needed to wait for the wild mix of emotions to calm in order to make sense of my feelings. I recently read a post by Kathleen Fasanella of Fashion-Incubator(www.fashion-incubator.com). She does a wonderful job of expressing how I feel. She writes…
”Everyone is angry and outraged, using the incident to blame their target du jour. Many consumers blame manufacturers for putting profit before people. In the trade, conversation at the water cooler blames consumers for being so cheap that outsourcing has become a necessary evil. Among independent designers, many show a perverse glee in the fallout of larger firms. Those who produce domestically feel vindicated because they’re not to blame. Regardless of where you lie in the spectrum, you share the shame. It affects all of us.”
This is an issue full of moral and ethical issues of which I don’t have the answer. If I advocate for making our products in the USA then where does that leave third world countries like Bangladesh who because of industries, like the ones occupying the Rana Plaza, are helping to improve nutrition, health, education and life expectancy in these countries. And, accidents and negligence happen everywhere, not just third world countries, wasn’t there just an explosion in a fertilizer plant in Waco, TX? Kathleen goes on to say that we need to be
“proactive and caring enough to take what responsibility that lies within our means to limit tragedy within our reach.”
On this I fully agree. We need to be very mindful of our own behavior, our choices and decisions. We need to think before acting about how the decision I am about to make affects others. I will continue to have Rowve bags manufactured in the United States, this is important to me. I will also continue to visit the manufacturers to make sure, to the best of my ability, that the working conditions are safe and clean. This is how I can take responsibility for my “small corner of the world”.
I want to applaud the companies who have signed an agreement that will require them to conduct independent safety inspections in Bangladesh, and make their reports public. They are H&M of Sweden, C&A of the Netherlands, British retailers Tesco and Primark and Zara of Spain. Unfortunately WalMart and Gap have yet to sign this agreement.
]]>Meet Talulah. She is 4 years old and she loves to dance. She also loves her Rowve medium Carry All bag her mom bought for her. Talulah’s mom is an environmentally conscious, hard- working single woman, who has mastered the art of multitasking and organization; juggling the needs of her daughter, dance, day care, and work. She purchased the Carry All bag because it’s large enough to hold Talulah’s hair brush, hair clips, dancing slippers, leotard and even her tutu, all the things Talulah needs for class or recitals. There are far fewer hassles getting ready in the morning now that all of Talulah’s things are in one bag. And the pretty bright pink bag makes it easy for Talulah to find when it’s time for her to leave day care for her dance class. Talulah’s mom loves the Rowve Carry All bag not only because it helps keep her organized but she also loves the fact the bag is made of laminate on the inside as well as the outside. If anything is spilled on the bag it won’t hurt the clean clothes inside, and when the bag gets dirty all she has to do is wipe it clean with warm soapy water, making her life just a little bit easier.

As I stated in my previous post, Rowve is supporting Amy Clover and the 30x30 project. Rowve is donating 25% of the profit from all bags sold during her tour and we are donating a dollar for every new like we receive on Facebook. We are not donating the money to Amy, although she is an inspiration to all of us at Rowve; however, we are donating the money to the organization she is supporting with her tour, To Write Love On Her Arm, TWLOHA. And with several more weeks to go in the tour there is still time to like us and/or buy a bag and support this great cause.
In my previous posts I included a link to both Amy and her 30x30 project and to TWLOHA. If you didn’t check them out I’ll share a few things I have learned about TWLOHA. First and foremost community is essential to TWLOHA. Treatment is important but community is essential. People need to know they are not alone, relationships are important. So they direct most of their work through the building of community. The Storyteller program is a high school program in which a student(s) and their advisors work together to raise awareness of mental health issues in high school. They do this through activities and fundraisers. For the college level they have Uchapters, working to raise awareness and be a community for those who may be struggling with mental health issues. And, Street Teams are for those of you who want to support TWLOHA and to be part of the solutions, conversations, and events happening in your area. This is an online program. So there you have it, a short version of the great things TWLOHA is doing and why it is so important for you to find your way of supporting them.
]]>Amy Clover, personal trainer, author, Make This Your Moment, and blogger of Strong Inside Out, is passionate about changing the way we see, feel and think about depression. She wants to break down the stigma attached to it and make it okay to “not be okay”. And to do this she has begun a movement to inspire hope to people, all people facing obstacles, whether the obstacle is depression, addiction or something else
As a young teen Amy was diagnosed with clinical depression. Initially she dealt with her depression through drugs and anger. In her early twenties she reached a point when she was close to committing suicide. Fortunately she got help and entered a program that provided the support and information she had not received before. Upon finishing the program she was ready to turn her life around. Strong Inside Out is her way of spreading the message to really get healthy, to get beyond the obstacles in your life in order to be healthy, inside and out.
Inspired to go “Big” in spreading her message, she began the 30x30 project. 30x30 is Amy’s dream to teach 30 donation based bootcamps in 30 cities before she turns 30. The money raised from this will go to the non-profit movement, To Write Love On Her Arms, (TWLOHA).
TWLOHA is an organization which offers hope and help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. It encourages, informs, inspires, and invests directly into treatment and recovery.
The neat thing about Amy’s message is that it is for everyone, not just those who live with depression. It touches everyone who holds on to anything, any fear, insecurity, any obstacle, that keeps you from being as great as you can be.
Below is a list of some of the places Amy will be visiting. For more information be sure to check out her website Strong Inside Out.

]]>Lately I have noticed on my facebook page several postings with the same general theme, not giving up. This really strikes a chord with me as I’m finding it very difficult to accomplish some of the goals I had set for myself this year. One of which is being more consistent with this blog.
Writing a blog is much harder than I thought. I admire the bloggers who are consistent and produce blogs with something great to say. This particular site doesn’t have a place for a blog list, but some of my favorites are: Alive in the Fire; Spoiled Yogi; Curvy Yoga; It’s all Yoga Baby;, Yogi Muse; and Tiny Buddha.. These are but a few with my list continually growing.
I want to thank Erica from Spoiled Yogi again for her review of our Carry All Bag. Time is running out on the sale of the bags so if you were thinking of buying one, now is the time.
Hang in there with me, things will get better!

]]>To kick off the New Year we are introducing our new large size Carry All Bag. We have carried this size in the studios that sell Rowve bags, and it was our number one selling item over Christmas. So, although we have a limited quantity, we felt it was time to offer it to all of our customers.
This bag is great. As you can see from the picture, you can put all your hot yoga essentials in this bag. Your towel, yoga clothes, washcloth, hygiene articles, and more. I used it last summer while on vacation to carry two week’s worth of used and odorous socks and underclothes. I’ve also used it when I swim. I can easily fit a towel, swimming suit and swimming shoes in the bag with room to spare. It has been used as a computer bag, a gym bag, shoe bag, and dancing tote. Anytime you would use plastic, you can and should use the Carry All bag, small, medium or large. The addition of our large black canvas Carry All bag, (lined in the same great laminate), makes this a super bag for men.
All Carry All Bags, small (8x7”), medium(15x9”), and large (17x13 ½”), are made and lined with the water resistant laminate which means cleaning is a snap. Just use warm soapy water or clean it with a yoga mat spray.

]]>It’s been a while since I last blogged. I was in Denver for a week with my daughter and I find getting back into my routine to be very difficult. The days seem to go by so quickly and then all of sudden a couple of weeks have vanished.
Denver was great! The weather was absolutely wonderful, light sweater weather most of the time we were there and this is the week before Thanksgiving. It was really nice. While in Denver I met a good friend of my daughter’s. Eve told me that whenever she gets discouraged or out of focus with Rowve, she visits Shania. And after meeting her I can understand her feelings. Shania owns Symmetry, a Physical Therapy Clinic and full service Pilates Studio. The focus of her wok is Muscle Activation Technique and she works with athletes from all walks of life. Briefly, muscle activation is working with the muscles surrounding the traumatized muscles, to develop them and allow them to compensate for the traumatized or strained muscles. To get a better understanding of what muscle activation is you have to check out the November 5, 2012 Sports Illustrated article, “Stretching the Field”. This is a great article on Peyton Manning and the muscle activation he has had done. But… back to my visit with Shania. Aside from owning Symmetry she is a super advocate of the Rowve bags. She feels Rowve bags are for all athletes, not just for yoga enthusiasts and she highly recommends them to all her clients. She bought one for her significant other who swims. Even though Eve has told me several times about Shania’s enthusiasm for Rowve, I was not prepared for the totality of her belief in our bags. I was blown away by her excitement and belief in Rowve. I walked out of her studio thinking “I’ve got to buy one of those bags. ( I have many). Shania is a very neat lady, and not just because she likes Rowve. She has a bubbly personality, the kind that pulls you in her direction no matter which way you were headed and you are thankful for it. I feel very fortunate to have met her. My only regret is that I don’t live in Denver, if I did I would definitely be one of her clients. She is one lady who really knows her stuff. So go check out Symmetry on our Where’s Rowve page, and don’t forget the Sports Illustrated article. And if you ever need muscle work done, go check out Symmetry.
]]>I have to be honest. I thought, when I started talking about yoga and perhaps giving it a try, I was really only talking. I thought that I would do my research, look for classes that were geared specifically for the larger person, talk about the classes and blogs and things that I found on the internet, and that would be that. Sorry, no classes that fit my requirement here in good, old, small Helena, Mt. Wrong!!!!! Believe it or not there is actually a Curvy Yoga Class here in Helena, MT. It’s wonderful that Helena has a class for the curvy yogi and they offer that class 4 times a week, but… the flip side of it is that I really felt obligated to go. So I did and you know what? I love it. I have been going for three weeks and I find myself actually looking forward to it. And, because of some knee injuries I have difficulty getting up and off the floor, Robyn Lund, the instructor, has made great accommodations for me. I have to say, if this wasn’t geared specifically to my needs, I would never had gone back after the first class. Not that the class wouldn’t have welcomed me, but my own fears and insecurities would have held me back. Yes, yoga is for every body, but it does help when everybody in the class looks more or less like you.
]]>Last week I was not feeling it. I tried to blog about my yoga class and it just wasn’t happening. I realized I needed to pull away from the yoga bag business and spend some time immersing myself in what renews my spirit, fiber art. So I worked on my current piece, a macaw. I’m taking a picture of a macaw and making a fabric recreation of it. I really enjoy doing this. It allows me to be creative in a completely different way. I suppose it’s like a yoga retreat for you yoga enthusiasts.
When I decided to look into yoga for myself, I researched what was out there. I began building a community of like-minded individuals from whom I could seek guidance, affirmation of feelings and inspiration. Well, I have this same type of community for my fiber art; a group of creative individuals from whom I get encouragement and inspiration. Because of the internet there are a million men and women I can tap into for inspiration. However, I am fortunate to have several good friends who encourage and support me in my work. Linda Parker ,Montana Quilts, lives here in Helena. She is a fantastic quilter and superior fiber artist. My other friend is Pat McGuire. Pat and her sister, Kathy, can take any throw-away-object and turn it into a wonderful piece of art. Unfortunately, she doesn’t live close but we’ve been friends for years and we are very supportive of each other. These two ladies have been very encouraging of not only my fiber art but also of the Rowve yoga bag business. So thank you Linda and Pat.
It’s good for the soul to get out of the place you are at now and then and allow youself to be covered in whatever brings you joy.
Now, after indulging for a week in my own personal pleasure, I am ready to get back to the yoga business. Next week, I’ll share my experience in my new yoga class.
